Record spring temperatures hit Moscow

MOSCOW, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow experienced unusually warm spring weather on Tuesday as temperatures hit a record high of 12.4 degrees Celsius (54.3 Fahrenheit), a meteorological spokesman said.

The previous record for March 25 was 12.2 degrees (53.9 Fahrenheit) which was registered in 1973. The meteorological bureau said temperatures could climb even higher by the end of the day.

Record temperatures have become quite common in recent years in Moscow. March last year was the warmest on record for 125 years and January 2008 was the mildest since records began 130 years ago.
