You Decide

The purpose of this article is to present a number of facts and figures that have come to my attention during my study of end time prophecy. I'm sure there will be some that will read this and think of it as date setting; but I can assure you that is not my intent. That is why I chose the title you see above.

Allow me to make my position clear. While there are more and more things pointing to the possibility of the Lord's return as soon as this year, we can not know for sure.

The main point I wish to make with this article is that there are far too many numbers, time lines and events converging on this current period of time for us not to know that we are in the last days. To my knowledge there has never been this many items converging on any one point in time in history until now.

I can say that I do not believe in coincidence. I will also say that while we cannot know the day or hour of our Lord's return; I do believe that we, as Christians, are meant to know the 'season' of His return. As for the exact time of His return, only God knows that.

Days Of Noah:

Matthew 24:37-39 -- 37. But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

As you can see, scripture tells us that in the last days things will be as they were in the days of Noah.

We all know how far society has declined morally and of present day attitudes and the total disregard for human life that exists today. We only have to listen to or read current news to see it. We all know or are aware of these things; but allow me to give you an interesting fact about "the days of Noah" that you probably didn't know. From the beginning (creation) until the time of Noah's death was 2008 years. -- Fascinating, don't you think?

King David:

King David is often called or referred to as the "Greatest of the Kings of Israel". There are some interesting items that have come up relating to King David in my studies and research. They are as follows:

  • Did you ever stop to think about the fact that the Lord has been referred to as the Son of David; but never as the son of Abraham or the son of Isaac? Perhaps God was trying to point out or bring our attention to David for a reason. Just consider it while you read the next 2 items.
  • King David was born in the Jewish year 2854. If you count that many years (2854) again, you come to the Jewish year 5708. The Jewish year 5708 translates to the English (gregorian) year 1948 - the year of the rebirth of Israel.
  • King David was actually crowned king in the Jewish year 2884. If you count that many years (2884) again you come to the current Jewish year of 5768.

Could this indicate the return of our King of Kings and the opening of the eyes of the Jews to Jesus being the Messiah; thus crowning Him king in their lives, hearts and minds? Did I hear someone say history repeating itself? Only time will tell. Once again - Fascinating!

As you continue, please keep in mind the years above (5708 and 5768) which both end in an eight (8).

Years Ending In An Eight (8):

There have been many events in Jewish history that have occured in years ending in an eight (8). Allow me to give a few examples:

  • In the Jewish faith, God is often referred to as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Did you know that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were all born in a year ending in an eight (8)?
The remainder of these items also occured in a year ending in an eight (8) --
  • God's covenant with Abraham.
  • The Jews redemption from Egypt.
  • The receiving of the Torah (the 5 books of Moses).
  • The death of Moses.
  • The rebirth of Israel.

The Last Generation:

Matthew 24:32-34 -- 32. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh: 33. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors. 34. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Luke 21:29-33 -- 29. And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30. When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

In this parable, the fig tree represents Israel. So we know that once Israel was reborn that the time of the end was getting close. Since that time (1948) even more related prophecies have been fulfilled. Here are some examples:

  • When it (fig tree/Israel) blooms and bears fruit then the redemption draws nigh. Since its rebirth, Israel has become one of the top food exporting nations of the world (See: Isaiah 27:6).
  • According to an article published in October 2007, it was found that Israel had a higher fertility rate than all European countries.
  • Israel's military is one of the best trained in the world and it is said that their Air Force is the 3rd most technologically advanced in the world (See: Zechariah 12:6-8).
  • Jerusalem will again be part of Israel, when the time of the Gentiles has come in (See: Luke 21:24). This occured in 1967.

Through these items alone we can know that we are a part of the "last generation". Knowing that, we must take the next step and find out what the length of a generation is. For that I turn to the following scripture:

Psalm 90:10 -- The days of our years [are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [they be] fourscore years, yet [is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

As we can see, God's word makes it quite plain that a generation is 70 years (average/normal) and can be 80 years if by reason of strength (good health). So if we add 70 to 1948 we have 2018; or, if by reason of good health, we add 80 to 1948 we have 2028. If we take the Bible to be total truth (which I do) then all of the prophecies will need to be fulfilled by 2028. I believe that things will come to an end closer to the 70 years than the 80 years. My reason - I believe God will want a larger portion of this generation alive to see and witness the final fulfillment of prophecy. I mean, what better way to achieve maximum impact. Also, there are simply too many things pointing to the end coming very soon. Again, this is just my own personal belief. Please see my commentary - Rapture-How Close?

The Jewish Calendar:

It is my considered opinion that when we study end times prophecy, we should be aligning events with the Jewish calendar and not the gregorian (english) calendar. A perfect example of why, can be found by studying the Jewish Feasts. In particular the fulfillment of the first 4 feasts. They were fulfilled as follows:

  • Feast of Passover - Fulfilled when Jesus died on the cross.
  • Feast of Unleavened Bread - Fulfilled when Jesus was placed in the tomb.
  • Feast of First Fruits - Fulfilled when Jesus rose again on the 3rd day.
  • Feast of Pentecost - Fulfilled with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the 120 in the upper room.
(For more detail on the exact timing and accuracy of the timing of these events please view the videos at links provided at the end of this article)

The most important thing to note is that these events took place on the exact days on the Jewish calendar given to us in Leviticus 23 by God, through Moses.

Now let's continue - On the Jewish calendar, the current year is 5768. It is commonly accepted in the Christian and Jewish communities that man's reign on the earth will last for 6,000 years, followed by the 1,000 year reign of Christ. Since the Jewish calendar is the counting of years since creation, it would appear that we still have 232 yrs remaining. However, there appears to be 2 mistakes that have been made in the counting of years. Those mistakes total 239 years.

We must also remember that man's reign did not begin until after Adam and Eve were sent out of the Garden of Eden. Until then, God was in control. The question is - How long was Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Scripture does not tell us. The only reference on this is in the book of Jubilees; which says that it was 7 years. We cannot be sure of the accuracy though; because this is not scripture. If it is right though, think about this - The current Jewish year 5768, plus mistakes of 239 yrs, minus 7 years in the Garden of Eden would mean the current Jewish year should be the year 6,000.

Once again we cannot be absolutely sure; but this is certainly worthy of some serious thought and consideration.

Mount of Olives and The Dead Sea Prophecy:

Mount of Olives:

Zechariah 14:4 -- And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

The Dead Sea Prophecy:

Ezekiel 47:8-11 -- 8.Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 9.And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 10.And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11.But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

As you can see, we are told in scripture of a great earthquake that will divide the Mount of Olives in half. One half moving to the north and one half to the south.

We also see that the Dead Sea will be divided. One part given to salt and the other restored (brought to life) with a flow of living waters.

Through the technology of the current age we now know that:

If (when) a major earthquake occurs along that fault line it could (will) very easily split the Mount of Olives east to west; thus causing the movement of one half to the north and one half to the south just as foretold. Also, a quake of that magnitude could easily rupture the earth and release the vast amounts of water in the reservoirs mentioned above. That water would flow to the Dead Sea. (for a more complete overview of the Dead Sea Prophecy - Click here)

My point here is quite simple - I and every other Christian knows that the Lord can cause any of these things to happen with the meer blink of an eye. However, he has:

  • Put these things in place (possibly as much as thousands of years ago).
  • He has kept us from knowing until this age. -Keeping with what He told Daniel that in the last days knowledge would increase and the wise would understand.
  • In this generation revealed the evidence of how these things can be made to happen - and in a way that would allow, even the doubting Thomas' among us to see and understand how they will happen and the truth of God's Word.

If you read the article on the Dead Sea Prophecy then you know that the one part about the dividing of the Dead Sea has already happened. One part is already given to salt. All That's left is to bring it to life with the flow of living waters.

As a side note - Scientists have said that if a major earthquake hits Israel, that 1 in 6 houses would be destroyed. They have also stated that as many as 16,000 people could be killed. Perhaps they should read the Bible - it tells us that 1 in 10 will be destroyed and 7,000 will be killed. Read for yourself:

Revelation 11:13 -- And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Cycles of Seven (7) Years:

The seven year cycles of years has to do with Judaism and the Jewish calendar. These cycles follow the pattern set out for us, since creation, as follows:

  1. Six (6) days of creation followed by a day of rest.
  2. Six (6) days of work followed by a day of rest (The Sabbath).
  3. Six (6) years of working the fields (the land) followed by a year of rest for the land - no planting of crops (etc.) - called a Sabbatical Year.

As we can see, cycles of sevens have been around since the beginning and continue to be a part of our everyday lives. Now that we have set the pattern, let's look at the cycles of seven (7) years shown in number three (#3) above.

Certain items have come to my attention during my studies that are (at the least) very interesting. The following are the three (3) verses I will be referring to:

  1. Revelation 11:3 -- And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

  2. Daniel 12:11 -- And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

  3. Daniel 12:12 -- Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

As scripture tells us, the first half of the tribulation period will be narked by the two witnesses work for 1260 days. The second half will begin from the setting up of the "abomination that maketh desolate". This half numbering a total of 1290 days. If you add the two numbers - 1260 and 1290 days - together you have 2550 days total. As you will see this total is important.

I must now remind you of the discussion above, about the last generation. Since we are the last generation and a generation is 80 years (if by strength) maximum then all things should be fulfilled by the year 2028.

As I've also shown above, the first four (4) feasts have already been fulfilled. The next two (2) - in order - to be fulfilled are the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.

It is commonly accepted, by Christians, that the Feast of Trumpets represents the rapture (catching away) of the Church and the Day of Atonement represents the day when Christ will return to set up his millennial kingdom.

This is important because there is another seven (7) year cycle to be found on the Jewish Calendar. This seven (7) year cycle only occurs/begins about every three (3) years. During these cycles, if you count the number of days from the first day of the Feast of Trumpets to the Day of Atonement seven (7) years later you will have exactly 2550 days! The next such cycle with exactly 2550 days in it begins in the fall of this year (2008). You may be thinking - Well, if these cycles begin about every three years, then there will be others between now and 2028 (the end of this generation); and you would be exactly right. However, the seven year cycle of 2550 days that begins this year (2008) is the only one (between now and 2028) that will coincide exactly with the seven year cycle that ends with a sabbatical year. In other words:

  1. We have a seven year cycle (observed in Judaism) that begins in the fall of 2008 and ends with a Sabbatical year in 2015.
  2. We have another seven year cycle having exactly 2550 days in it (from 1st day of Feast of Trumpets to the Day of Atonement seven years later) also beginning in the fall of 2008 and ending in 2015.

Now, if you count 45 days (the difference between the 1290 days of Dan. 12:11 and the 1335 days of Dan. 12:12) from the Day of Atonement forward; you will come to the first day of Hanukkah.Hanukkah is a celebration of the rededication of the Temple 3 years after Antiochus IV ("Epiphanes") desecrated the temple in 167 B.C. Could Hanukkah in 2015 be the celebration of the rededication of the Temple for the 3rd and final time? All I can say is - You Decide.

Since I think most of us like icing on a cake, let's see if we can put the icing on this one:

There is an additional counting of years associated with the seven year cycle ending in a Sabbatical year. The Jews observe these cycles for seven times. Then the following year is a Jubilee year. In other words - we count seven cycles of seven years (7X7) for a total of 49 years. The year immediately following (the 50th year) is a Jubilee year. Well, guess what - the Jewish year that begins at the end of 2015 is the Jubilee year on the Jewish Calendar!! How's that for timing!?

Please don't misunderstand. I am not saying it Will happen this year; only that there is a very good possibility that it could. Only time will tell, and only God knows for sure.

I ask you - If the rapture were to happen this year, are you ready? If the Lord does come this year, would He find you "about your Father's business", or will you be one of the ones He finds sleeping?

There is so much more on this subject, I could not fit it all in one article so I leave you with one request - Please view the two videos below!! After viewing them, then do as the title of this article says - You Decide
